A number of Android and iPhone phones will not be able to use the instant messaging application WhatsApp as of December 31, 2022. At least, there are more than 40 smartphone models, both Android and iPhone, which will no longer be able to use WhatsApp starting next year.
This is normal ,because, every year, WhatsApp periodically stops support for several Android and iOS operating systems (OS). Generally, operating systems that are no longer supported are old versions, which are no longer relevant to the new features introduced by WhatsApp. "Device and software support changes frequently, so we periodically review what operating systems we support to make updates," WhatsApp wrote on its official blog.

In this update, cellphones that can no longer use WhatsApp are Android smartphones running the Android 4.0 operating system and iPhones running iOS 11. That means, only older phones will no longer be supported by WhatsApp.
WhatsApp says devices and software that are no longer supported are likely to be used by only a small number of users at this time. "It may also be that the device is no longer receiving security updates or is working less while running WhatsApp," WhatsApp said.
So, what happens if the device is no longer supported by WhatsApp? WhatsApp will first provide notifications for devices that will no longer be supported. The notification will contain an appeal to update the software or even use a new device whose operating system is still relevant. However, given the following list it seems difficult to get operating system updates, it's a good idea to replace the device.
