Xiaomi has finally officially announced their newest interface (UI), namely MIUI 14, along with the launch of the Xiaomi 13 Series. What's new from MIUI 14?
From every generation, Xiaomi has always made changes to the visual design of its MIUI. This time, Xiaomi made a lot of changes in terms of appearance. The icons on MIUI 14 appear larger, but the size can be adjusted by the user himself. Apart from that, Xiaomi has also added new widget formats and folders on the home screen.
Interestingly, MIUI 14 now has a "pet" widget in the form of an animal or plant. The widget is similar to the Pixel Pals app on iOS. You can add animals or plants to your home screen, and you can interact or play with them.
Xiaomi places a lot of emphasis on improving performance on MIUI 14. They claim the user experience has been successfully increased by up to 60%. Not only for system applications, but third-party applications will also receive increased performance and efficiency.
In addition, the use of RAM for the system on MIUI 14 is also claimed to have been reduced drastically. As is known, MIUI is known as a UI that is wasteful of RAM.
The total firmware size is also smaller. The entire MIUI 14 system will take up 13.09 GB, which is a significant decrease compared to its predecessor. Plus, now there are only eight default apps that can't be uninstalled.
MIUI 14 brings a new notification option. Users can now close the notification list with just one swipe. New apps installed also now require approval to be able to show notifications.

Given that Xiaomi has a very diverse ecosystem, they are now providing a dedicated application that acts as a hub for their devices. In fact, each device will later have a different appearance based on its type.
In addition, Xiaomi said the ability to connect smartphones with other devices was also improved. Earphone connectivity has increased by 50%, TV has increased by 12% and image transmission during streaming is claimed to have increased by 77%.
MIUI 14 also brings new family features. Family accounts allow up to 9 people to be registered so they can share services with each other, including their cloud storage.
Like other family applications, parents can also control the use of gadgets for their children, including limiting screen time, using applications, setting safe areas, and so on. In fact, health data such as heart rate, blood oxygen levels and sleep quality are shared among family members.
